Books: After playing musical instruments since I was 7 years old and teaching music for decades, I took up the harp in 1996 and published my first book of harp arrangements in a book called “Harpy Holidays” in 1998. From there I arranged two harp ensemble books “Four Scottish Duets for Lever Harp” and “Three Elizabethan Duets for Lever Harp”. As I got more involved with the cross-strung harp, all the books published since then were for the cross-strung harp beginning with “Classical Cross-strung Volume 1” which was later followed up with “Classical Cross-strung Volume 2”. I arranged a subsequent book called “Classical Cross-strung for Lap Harp” which took selections from the previous 2 books and set them for the smaller cross-strung harp. In an attempt to fulfill a need for more instructional material for the cross-strung harp, I published the “Cross-strung Harp Method”. Combining my knowledge and interest in the classical guitar, I also published “The Spanish Cross-strung” which took several pieces from the classical guitar repertoire and set them on the cross-strung harp.
A number of years ago, I joined the Gravenstein Mandolin Ensemble and I’ve enjoyed being the classical guitar player in an orchestra of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos and bass. The sound of a mandolin orchestra is magical and I became attracted to writing arrangements for the group with my knowledge of writing for bands and other ensembles. The results were the many mandolin orchestra arrangements you see available on this website.
